Alpha Crew Take Glastonbury 2023

6 4

This year we were delighted to be asked back to provide crew for the legendary Glastonbury Music Festival 2023. One of the world’s most renowned outdoor music events, this is the second year in a row that we have worked at this iconic event. We had the pleasure of working with some familiar faces, including the Other Stage management team and our clients Four Wall Video, Neg Earth and Entec.

Our crew were working on ‘The Other Stage’, reborn and renamed so in 1997, which has since played host to a plethora of iconic artists including Iggy Pop, Massive Attack, and The Chemical Brothers in 2011. The brief for our crew at this stage was to help with the build and break, load-ins and load-outs, as well as work on artist changeovers from June 21st to June 25th. This was essential work that helped the production of the stage run smoothly and ensure all artist performances were a success.

With 54 crew from our Bristol and Scotland teams, they worked both day and night shifts totalling 293 hours! The day shifts were on show days which ran from 15:00 - 23:00, and the night shifts which involved assisting with the load-in/load-outs and build/break ran from 23:00 to 6:00. The late nights and long days did not stop their commitment to delivering excellence.

Our crews responsibilities were extremely varied. Their qualifications, experience and expertise allowed them to work on many different jobs of different skill levels. This included:

  • Assisting riggers with the spreaders, truss, and motors

  • Assisting video build & break multiple video walls

  • Running general power

  • Running fiber for television broadcasting

  • Tipping trucks and loading in all the stage & artist equipment

  • Safely stacking and storing empties on the wings of the stage

  • Crew operating follow-spots on show days

  • Crew assisting in artist changeovers

  • Assisting Audio with the speakers and subs

  • Building set and staging

  • Assisting with the pyrotechnics

Our crews ability to maintain a professional and efficient service working every day allowed them to deliver absolute excellence at Glastonbury this year. Despite the hot weather and sleepless nights in tents, they were able to successfully provide exceptional services to the world’s biggest festival and be part of an absolutely incredible event and experience.

It was an absolute delight to work at Glastonbury this year. Everyone on this job had such a great time and we're excited to participate in such an amazing occasion. We hope to be back working there again next year!
